This is a very special class offering participants the opportunity to
learn about writing music for a small ensemble and have their music played by
some of Ireland's finest musicians. Students will learn about many
different kinds of composers and their techniques, in a practical way
through many different styles and genres of music. We will also look at
practical music theory and the specifics of writing music for acoustic Instruments.
At the end of the term each class member will be given the opportunity to write music for a small group of professional musicians and have their music performed and recorded. This is a unique opportunity for any aspiring composer and one that shouldn't be missed.
While participants are not required to play an instrument, access to a keyboard instrument is recommended and a basic understanding of musical notation is recommended.
